Teachers who love the outdoors and a relish a challenge!  We now have a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding Outdoor Education Teacher with to join Medway Green School. At Medway Green, we believe in the transformative power of outdoor education. All of our students are timetabled for one day per fortnight outside of the classroom.  From September 2022, we are looking for a dedicated and passionate leader of outdoor activities who can teach all ages.  Ideally possessing a Forest School qualification you will draw on your passion for all things outdoors to plan and deliver an outstanding outdoor learning curriculum that inspires and engages our students beyond the classroom.

Differentiation and individualised learning strategies are vital skills required to meet the needs of all our pupils who will have had varying degrees of success in their educational lives. Our aim is to change young people’s expectations and we will always provide our pupils with the best possible opportunities to succeed beyond Medway Green School.  You will be enthusiastic, able to work effectively as part of a team and dedicated to making a difference to improving the lives of the young people that we support.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for one of the following:

  • A primary school teacher seeking a challenge who is able to plan and deliver an outdoor curriculum to KS3 and 4 students
  • A secondary subject specialist who is able to plan and deliver an outdoor curriculum to KS1 and 2 students
  • An instructor / unqualified teacher who could fit into one of the above categories

 

Just as important as academic achievement is the social & emotional development of our pupils. We want our pupils to be successful citizens and positively contribute to their local communities, it will therefore be imperative to provide opportunities to advance these skills. Along with this, the use of personalised curriculums and positive reinforcement will underpin your everyday practice.

This can be a challenging environment and therefore, determination and resilience are key characteristics for the post. We are seeking an experienced teacher with an ability to interact with and motivate students diagnosed with SEMH and ASC, allowing the successful candidate to immediately form positive relationships and adapt to the needs of the pupils. We invest heavily in teacher development and want staff who endeavour to achieve more.  We often find that candidates who have succeeded in mainstream settings and are looking for a new challenge make excellent SEN teachers.  Therefore, applications are welcome from teachers with special needs or mainstream backgrounds.

Information about the school

Medway Green School is a special needs provision that provides for students whose SEMH/SEN needs have resulted in placement breakdown at their mainstream schools. We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH students in Key stages 1-3. Students will experience a personalised curriculum based on previous learning and identified needs. With a keen focus on therapy, education and personal development the school aims to help young pupils grow academically, socially and emotionally to enable them to achieve success as they progress through life.

Opened in 2019, Medway Green School presently provides education to 48 students. The next phase of our growth will grow our role to 67 students and introduce a KS4 curriculum.
