Set on the top of the East Cliff in Folkestone, which is just a few moments’ walk from the beach, St. Mary's Primary Academy is a hub of learning where everyone flourishes; staff, children, parents and the wider community. Our site is an inspirational place to work and learn. We have three large forest school areas, a pond and large grounds for play and outside learning. We have built a wonderful place where learning for all is at the heart and we pride ourselves on our value driven leadership. Our team think big and are passionate about excellence in all areas. As a result, we have a school that is continually developing and shaping its curriculum so that it is relevant, purposeful and authentic. Our pupils have learning experiences that matter and make a difference to themselves, their community and their world. We are an internationally accredited school and have recently had a very successful Ofsted.

We are looking for someone who can join us on our exciting journey and can bring along with them an unconditional love for young people, a passion for learning, innovative ideas and can thrive in an environment of high trust, high support and low control. We provide all staff with a professional development coach and are focussed as a team on ensuring we all continually develop through small research-based projects in the classroom. Workload is well balanced and the team report our school to be a wonderful place to be where staff are cared for as much as the children.

This job is open to ECTs and experienced teachers. The ideal person would be able to demonstrate outstanding knowledge of either the EYFS or KS1 curriculum and have a high competency in teaching through a range of strategies and a proven awareness of up-to-date effective teaching practises.  Capacity and motivation to lead a core subject would be an advantage, as well as a willingness to lead this across multiple year groups ensuring a strong curriculum package for all learners. You must be passionate about making use of the grounds, the forest and the beach as part of the learning journey for children. Energy, a sense of humour, a great team spirit and a creative mindset are all must haves.

This really is an opportunity to grasp and join a flourishing school community with ambitious and supportive staff who want the best for the children and each other.  Take a look at our school website at www.stmarysfolkestone.com or have a look on our Facebook page or come and visit us to find out more.
