We are seeking an experienced senior leader with a passion to inspire teaching and learning in our inclusive and thriving 350 child Church of England Junior School.

Reporting directly to the Headteacher, you will be responsible for standards, outcomes and the curriculum. This role will also involve leading whole school strategy and development. The ideal candidate will be a change leader with the ability to inspire, coach and lead colleagues.

The role (will include): 

  • Modelling and implementing the vision and ethos of the school.
  • Developing and driving strategies of school improvement ensuring that our curriculum is highly aspirational, inclusive and empowers both children and teaching staff to thrive.
  • Monitoring outcomes and assisting subject leaders and teaching staff to ensure that curriculum delivery is highly effective and leads to progress and attainment for all including SEND and disadvantaged pupils
  • Proactively leading staff with full operational oversight for teaching, learning and assessment across the school.
  • Formulating the aims and objectives of the whole school and establishing policy. 

The person must have, and provide clear evidence of this is their Supporting Statement: 

  • Recent experience of working successfully as a senior leader in a school.
  • Evidence of major whole school responsibilities and experience of turning policy into effective and successful practice.
  • Successful leadership of a significant area, or phase, or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards, with clear evidence of success.
  • Experience of reviewing whole school systems and identifying gaps and areas for improvement and devising solutions.
  • Experience in creating overarching systems to allow monitoring and evaluation of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Experience of analysing data, to evaluate the performance of pupil groups and pupil progress, and plan an appropriate course of action for whole school development.
  • Experience of supporting, motivating and inspiring both colleagues and pupils by leading through example.
  • Able to demonstrate a background of very strong teaching and very strong leadership.

Kennington CE Academy is 3 form entry (12 classes) for Key stage 2 of 360 pupils, situated in North Ashford and serving a mixed community of children who are enthusiastic about learning and their school.
