Advert

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to lead music at St. Peter’s Junior School.

You will be joining our fantastic arts team alongside our specialist art, drama and dance teachers.

We are rightly proud of our rich creative curriculum.

You will join a team with a bespoke studio performance space; colleagues fully committed to the importance of the arts, children with an embedded range of theatrical, dance and music skills and a curriculum where the arts are fully entwined with children’s learning.

We are hugely proud of our Platinum Artsmark awarded this year and we look forward to continuing on our Artsmark journey.

This role is 0.4 FTE on a Wednesday and Thursday, teaching whole class lessons through the day and smaller specialist clubs after school. Your path to this role could be varied – your background could be a class teacher with a passion for music or you could already be a specific music or singing teacher. What is important is what you will bring to St. Peter’s.

If this role excites you we would love to you to come and see us – because we want to see you too!

Information about the school

Our Ofsted inspection in May 2023 judged St Peters to be an outstanding school in all areas and for the last four years we have been amongst the highest achieving schools in the local area. We pride ourselves on our strengths in art, music, sport and drama where our specialist teachers and performance spaces enable children to really excel.

Although the school was established in 1694 our present building is much newer, having been opened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1998. We have good links with our local secondary schools. The majority of our children join us in Year 3 from Callis Grange Infants with whom we have a linked admissions policy but also have children from other schools joining us.

We have a warm and caring environment where all children, parents and staff work together as part of a positive learning culture, which enables our children to grow and learn in an atmosphere of true care and respect and develop into young people of whom we can be genuinely proud. This is through the combination of high quality teaching and pastoral care, rooted in our strong Christian values. These values and traditions help children to gain an understanding of society today and help us to prepare them well for life in modern Britain.

Our ‘all round’ curriculum means St Peter’s children flourish academically, artistically, musically, dramatically and on the sports field. We work hard to help each and every child to fulfil their potential as we believe that there is success in every child.

St. Peter's Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy, available on our website.
