Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic maths teacher to join a small, dedicated team delivering to learners aged 16 – 19 (up to 25 with an EHCP) from Entry Level to Level 2 in both Functional Skills and GCSE within our flagship Study Programme, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

Our learners tend to have significant gaps in their foundational understanding of maths and so a broad range of experience in teaching maths from a primary setting and upwards would be appropriate.

We are in search of an experienced and inspirational individual who will encourage learners to engage with maths; building their skills and confidence using a variety of teaching, learning and assessment methods. The aim of the Study Programme is to help approximately 25 young people gain the skills and qualifications they need to progress to their next stage in life and achieve the appropriate maths qualifications. Being able to apply maths skills to real world situations is critical. All learning on the programme is delivered whilst developing their employability, personal and social skills in a flexible and positive environment where classes are kept small.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working closely with / supporting people from a variety of backgrounds. We help our learners manage a number of different SEMH circumstances and other SEND across a broad spectrum. We have a high staff to student ratio and our team includes a SENCo and Counsellor and two therapy dogs!

You will be dedicated, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and desire to make a difference in people’s lives. You will be organised and proficient in IT with good basic office skills and the ability to provide reports on learner progress to management.

You must have QTS or a level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Diploma in Education & Training (DET), Cert Ed, or an equivalent qualification) and a minimum GCSE qualification in maths is required.

This role will be subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS Check.
