Job Description

S-Club supports young people with Down’s syndrome aged 11-25 years. It is split into 3 sessions one of which is based on the smiLE approach (https://www.smiletherapytraining.com/). The groups will teach our young people skills including:
• Becoming actively responsible for their own communication and learning

• ways to prevent or repair communication breakdown in face-to-face situations

• a range of strategies to ensure they communicate their message

• to work with their peers in a group and be respectful

• socially appropriate behaviours

We are looking for a dynamic individual to support our current staff to help us deliver this programme under expert guidance. The role will require you to work closely with the young people with Down’s syndrome, teaching staff and speech therapists.

21 Together highly values staff professional development, so the role will come with full expert on the job and additional training. We are looking for a person with an excellent rapport with young people, who can adjust their social communication style according to the needs of the young person. This role would suit an energetic individual with a can-do attitude and a love for learning new skills.

Hours: S-Club will run in blocks of approx. 10 Saturdays from 09:30 – 16:00. We expect to run two/three blocks each year. Potentially starting in October, January, and May.
