Job Description

To provide after-school tuition in English and maths for children aged 5-16. We operate from a centre which is located just opposite West Malling train station. Our after-school sessions run Monday – Friday, 4:00 – 5:20pm and 5:30 - 6:50pm, and we also have two Saturday morning sessions. We currently have both part-time and full-time positions available.

We are looking for a primary teacher to teach children aged 5-11, and we also have a secondary maths position available.

Working hours would be between 15:00 – 19:30.

You must be able to travel to the centre.

Qualifications:

  • A formal teaching qualification or similar e.g. Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) / Batchelors in Education / G.T.P, or a willingness to undertake a qualification before commencement of teaching
  • Listed on the DBS register or willing to undergo a DBS register check before contact with pupils

Experience:

  • Teaching children aged between 5 years and 16 years in a classroom environment – minimum of 2 years’ experience preferable
  • Marking and correcting work handed in by pupils
  • Developing curriculum plans in line with key stages
  • Formative and summative assessment

Skills:

  • Computer skills including use of a range of computer programs
  • Interpersonal skills including active listening, giving empathetic feedback and a clear speaking voice
  • Ability to read signals that pupils understand/ do not understand
