Job Description

Totum Education provides academic support to students in receipt of disabled student allowance (DSA). We pride ourselves on only employing high quality support specialists that are passionate about making a difference to the lives of people studying higher education courses in Canterbury.

You will be a qualified teacher and able to communicate fluently/fluidly with individuals that are deaf. You also need to provide study skills support on a one to one basis with various students.

Required Qualifications:

Advisory Teacher for Deaf Students

OR  
Advisory Teacher for Students with Multi-Sensory Impairments

OR
Teaching qualification (see job description) and Registered Qualified British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreter

OR
Teaching qualification (see job description) plus specialist qualification in relevant subject e.g.
Deaf Studies
English
Linguistics
Deaf literacy specialist qualification
Deaf Awareness qualification (specific to language acquisition) etc. Additional

Information:
The working hours vary according to the needs of the student and the number of students you will be allocated. All support workers must be registered self-employed or in the process of registering as self-employed, thereby responsible for paying their own NI contributions and tax. Only the most experienced and qualified support workers will be selected for interview.
