We are a fast growing independent Attendance Advisory Service that provides a service to schools and academies across London, the South East and Kent.
Job Description;• Work collaboratively and proactively with schools to support improved overall school attendance.• Undertake legislative statutory responsibilities with regard to regular school attendance, promoting the welfare of children and Safeguarding.• Work with parent/carers and pupils to investigate the causes of irregular school attendance through meetings in school and/or at home.• Implement effective strategies and plans to support improved individual pupil school attendance, where necessary working as part of a multi- agency approach.• Make referrals to other agencies as appropriate.• Engage with other agencies as necessary in relation to child protection matters fulfilling responsibilities for Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures and practice.• Provide advice, training and information to schools on legislation relating to all aspects of school attendance and registration. Inspect Attendance Registers as required.• Maintain professional, detailed and accurate records of all work undertaken and case manage referrals effectively through regular supervision.• Prepare case papers for court proceedings under Section 444 Education Act 1996 and Section 36 Children Act 1989 and provide evidence in court as required.• Undertake any other duties and training commensurate with the post.
The successful candidate will need to have;• Good listening skills.• An understanding of the issues that affect young people.• The ability to deal with difficult situations.• Confidence in supporting schools, parents/carers and other agencies, where necessary.• The ability to maintain a good balance of judgement in welfare and legal issues and manage and prioritise caseloads.• Conscientious attitude towards their work and a desire to do a good job.• The ability to work independently and use their own initiative.• Intermediate to advanced skills on computer programmes such a Word, Excel etc. Sims understanding would be beneficial but isn’t essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to;• Work with a variety of agencies including; Health, Youth Justice, Social Care and Police.• Provide satisfactory references and pass an enhanced CRB check.• Hold a clean driving licence and have use of a car.• Provide support and guidance in concerns of welfare and enforcement.
SEAAS provide an Attendance Advisory Service to a number of Schools across London, the South East and Kent. Our Attendance Advisory Officers each work in many schools and therefore we cannot advise where the position would be located. It is likely that the successful candidate would be in 4-5 different schools across a normal working week.
The SEAAS Offices are based in Sidcup.
