The 5 Top Christmas Light Trails in Kent

There is nothing more festive than a Christmas light trail, wrapping up warm and cosying up to loved ones is a magical experience that will kick off the yuletide celebrations in style. In fact, walking through a wonderland of twinkling lights is my favourite Christmas tradition and is perfect for all the family. I am going to Christmas at Bedgebury this year with my 2 children and family and I cannot wait!

Light trails are incredibly popular and usually sell out very quickly. We have listed the top light trails in Kent below, hopefully you will be able to book a ticket for this year but if not it should be at the top of your Christmas to do list for next year!

Leeds Castle

Christmas Lights at Leeds Castle is new for 2022 and is set to enchant visitors with illuminations and Christmas music with the picturesque castle as a glamorous backdrop. The light installations have been designed by international artists and choreographed to a soundtrack to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Discover twinkling tunnels of light, trees aglow in dazzling colours, flickering flames in the fire garden and awesome waterside reflections to help make Christmas memories for years to come.

Christmas at Bedgebury

Bedgebury is a beautiful arboretum and is stunning all year round which makes it the perfect woodland setting for a winter lights trail. With over a million lights, this is a must see on the Christmas calendar!

Take a stroll through twinkling tunnels, walk under giant Christmas baubles and marvel at the shimmering light displays. Pick up a tasty treat along the way from the café or from the independent food and drink vendors. Will you choose to toast a marshmallow on the open fire pit or enjoy a warming hot chocolate, or both?!

Glow Illumination Trail at Cobtree Manor Park

The popular illuminations are back at Cobtree Manor Park this year with the theme of “Nature After Dark”. “Explore the enchanted woodland as it comes alive with a kaleidoscope of colour” and take a journey underwater with ocean themed light projections and seascapes to fit into the natural world theme. You will also encounter Christmas performers along the lit up paths but will you spot Father Christmas and his elves?

If a member of your family has additional needs then the Glow Illumination Trail have relaxed sensory sessions available at 4pm and 4:15pm.

Hever Castle

The Christmas Lights experience starts from 4pm, wrap up warm and enjoy a walk under the stars to explore the grounds lit up by twinkly Christmas lights and festooned with festive decorations. You can even wander further afield for a trip into ‘outer space’ where the bright moon shines and illuminated planets fill the evening skies, perfect for those star gazers amongst us!

Children can explore the forest and meet an array of woodland creatures along the Christmas trail. The castle will be decorated with stunning Christmas decorations and is included in the ticket price this year. Outside the castle will be a small fairground – gallopers, a big wheel and hook a duck will add to the seasonal magic. There is even something for animal lovers as you will be able to meet Siberian huskies in the Husky Hideout! What’s not to love!

Enchanted Walmer

Walmer Castle opens its gates this Christmas time for a sparkling evening filled with Christmas lights, festive sounds and plenty of yummy food and drinks to share with loved ones. The historic castle provides a beautiful backdrop to your evening as you take in the sights of the castle grounds and gardens awash with light.

After you have completed the trail be sure to stop at the fairground for a fun filled evening with your friends and family.
