Family Activities and Places to go in Kent over the Christmas Period

There is an abundance of Christmas-themed events, such as Christmas fairs, markets and Christmas lights. But this does not mean that, non-Christmas themed events should be forgotten. Not every activity you do in December needs to be Christmas related. After all the Christmas season is about spending time with friends and family. Although many activities feature a Christmas theme, there are still a few things you can do.

Non-Christmas Themed Activities

You might want to take your kids to the Pantomime in Kent, to watch the many fairy-tale stories like Jack and the Bean Stalk, Sleeping Beauty, Puss and Boots, Cinderella, Rapunzel or Snow White and the 7 Dwarves, to stay slightly Christmassy.

If you go to the Cinema in December, it doesn’t mean it has to be Christmas films. You may just want to enjoy the number of normal films screening all around Kent and the country.

If you are looking for something to do with friends, why not go for a Sunday Carvery together or any type of meal, if you don’t want to ruin the excitement of a Christmas roast. It might be a good idea, especially if you enjoyed the December pub spirit too much the night (or nights) before!

Indoor Christmas Activities 

Another forgotten element of December fun, is Christmas events that do not involve being cold. As popular as it is, being out in the crisp December air, with Christmas lights everywhere, there are things to do indoors. 

If you are someone who wants to go to the cinema for Christmas-related films, there are many Christmas themed films being screened this year. If you want to get into the Christmas film spirit, before the televised marathon of traditional films around Christmas Day, the cinema is a great way to start. So why not enjoy a big screen, snacks and the warmth of being indoors while keeping it Christmassy?

It may feel like cheating, but why not go ice skating Indoors? It still won’t be as warm as normal indoor conditions but it is still much warmer than outside. So, if you fancy going ice skating in warmer conditions, the Bluewater indoor ice-skating rink could be perfect for you. 

Outdoor Christmas Activities

Of course, one of the most popular ways of spending December, is going to Christmas markets. There are a magnitude of Christmas events going on in Kent this year, with some of these including; Rochester Christmas Market, Canterbury Christmas Market, Faversham Christmas Market Weekend, Gravesend Borough Market, Folkestone Harbour Arm and Whitstable Castle.

There are also several Christmas Fairs happening in different parts of Kent, including Sevenoaks, Maidstone, Paddock Wood, Wrotham and many more.

If you would rather ice skate outside to feel like you are getting the full experience, there are many places in and around Kent to ice skate. As great as it is to ice skate indoors, it is hard to replicate ice skating in fresh air, with the sky wide open above you.

If you are looking for some music events indoor or outdoor, Christmas themed or not, there are plenty of shows going on in Kent to enjoy with parents, grandparents or friends.
