5 Easter Activities to Enjoy at Home

Although coronavirus lockdown restrictions are beginning to ease, it’s likely that a lot of us will be spending the majority of the Easter Holidays at home this year. While the prospect of spending two weeks cooped up in the house with the kids bouncing off the walls from too much chocolate may not sound like the ideal break, there are plenty of fun ways to get creative and keep busy indoors.

Once you’ve grown tired of the traditional Easter egg hunt, why not give one of the below indoor activities a go?

1) Hold a family egg and spoon race

On your marks, set, go! This old-fashioned sports day classic is good fun for the whole family. Boil up a few eggs (hard-boiled eggs will create the least amount of mess), grab a wooden or metal spoon each and head out to the garden. You could offer a chocolate prize for the winner, or to avoid arguments, just let the taking part count! Why not try working in teams to create a relay-style race? Or you could try kids versus adults!

2) Gather round for an eggcellent story

While sticking the kids in front of the TV for two weeks may seem like the easy option, it isn’t always the best way to keep young minds active and engaged with the world around them. Switch off the electronics and dig out your favourite Easter stories; you can take turns reading aloud and have fun reading in silly voices! Perfect for a rainy day.

3) Get creative

Easter is a great time of year to bring out the pencils, paints and colouring pens. Encourage your little ones to make their own Easter bunny ears, paint an Easter-themed scene or even give them responsibility for creating the Easter decorations to be put up around the house. If you’re struggling for ideas, you could always follow a YouTube tutorial or have a go at these Easter craft ideas.

4) Decorate an Easter tree

Who says trees are just for Christmas? You could head out into the garden to find a tree to decorate or grab an indoors plant and give it a spring makeover. If you haven’t got a tree to hand and don’t fancy braving the garden centre, why not try making a tree using some wire or pipe cleaners?

Curbing the chocolate cravings over the Easter period can be difficult, so why not celebrate Easter with these cute bunny pancakes for a healthier option?

Top your pancakes with bananas, strawberries, blueberries or another fruit of your choice to help your kids reach their 5-a-day!
