8 Things to Do in Kent This February Half-Term

February may bring colder, wetter weather, but with these fantastic events taking place at Kent’s top attractions, there’s no excuse to not get out of the house this February half-term! 

Here are our top 8 picks of things to do in Kent over the coming week:


1) Spring Half Term Fun at The Hop Farm

Enjoy a selection of rides, an indoor play centre, Driving School, Magic Castle, Animal Farm, Giant Jumping Pillows and more at the Hop Farm this half term! 

The whole family will love seeing the new additions to the animal farm, including Spring lambs and piglets. There’s plenty more going on throughout the week so make sure to check out the Hop Farm’s website

When? Saturday 11th – Sunday 19th February 2023

Prices: £4 per person (under 1’s go free), includes all day entry. 


2) Maidstone Museum’s February Half Term Make-It Workshops

Get hands on this half term at Maidstone Museum’s Make-It Workshops. Children will enjoy three days of Forklore themed craft activities, including creating clay sculptures, musical instruments and animal-themed masks.

When? Tuesday 14th – Thursday 16th February 2023, 10:30 – 14:30. 

Prices: £3 per child, per session. 


3) Half-Term Outdoor Adventurers at Leeds Castle

Become a first-class explorer at Leeds Castle this half term! Kids can throw on a pair of wellies and follow the exciting activity booklet to help guide you around the grounds for a small additional charge (£1).  

Start your adventure in the Princess Alexandra Gardens before venturing to the Culpeper Garden, and finishing the trail by the Maze and Knight’s Stronghold Playground!

When? Saturday 11th – Sunday 19th February 2023

Prices: £21 per child, £29 per adult for Leeds Castle day pass.


4) Half-Term Days Out at Howletts Wild Animal Park

Rediscover the wild with a half term day out at Kent’s original wild animal park. For some really wild February half term activities, check out their exciting animal encounters and come face to face with your favourite animals!

Explore 100 acres of historic parkland and be amazed by the largest herd of African elephants in the UK! The whole family will love seeing animals up close, including big cats, gorillas and the only giant anteaters in Kent.

Prices: £15 - 18 per child, £18.37 - £22.05 per adult.


5) Storytelling & Wildlife at Kent & East Sussex Railway

All aboard! Hop on the Kent & East Sussex steam train this half term and enjoy a scenic journey through Kent’s countryside along with free storytelling and free wildlife presentation events on specific days!

When? Wednesday 15th – Sunday 19th February 2023

Prices: £1 per child (3-15), £24.50 per adult.


6) Emerging Nature at Hever Castle

Get the children out and about this half term at Hever Castle! Enjoy a a free pebble painting workshop, learn about different wildlife charities and take part in children’s activities.

Children are bound to love following the nature trail around Hever Castle’s stunning grounds and will also have the opportunity to get their face painted! (£5pp)

Not all of these events run daily, so be sure to take a look at the website for event dates and times.

When? Saturday 11th – Sunday 19th February 2023

Prices: All activities are free of charge. Standard admission prices for Castle and Gardens online are £10.75 per child, £17.15 per adult and £47 per family.  


7) February Fun & Frolics at Kent Life 

Kent Life has plenty going on this half-term, with a whole host of baby animals to meet, including piglets, lambs, ponies and more! Visitors have the exclusive opportunity to join in with feeding sessions and get up close to the animals in the cuddle corner. 

You can also step back in time at the Vintage Village and explore the Victorian Petts Farmhouse through to WW2 Lenham Cottages. There’s also tractor and land train rides to enjoy and indoor and outdoor play areas!

Prices: £10 per child (under 2s go free), £10 per adult, £36 per family. 


8) Make History at Dover Castle 

Join characters from the past for historical hijinks and hands-on shenanigans at Dover Castle this half-term. Be transported back in time by medieval storytellers, before enrolling into their outrageously fun sword school!

Plus there are many more activities at the castle, including discovering the story of Dunkirk in an immersive exhibition in our Secret Wartime Tunnels.

Prices: £14.40 per child (5-17), £4 per adult, £62.40 per family.
