8 Things to do in Kent This February Half Term

February may bring colder, wetter weather, but with these fantastic events taking place at Kent’s top attractions, there’s no excuse to not get out of the house this February half term! 

Here are our top 8 picks of things to do in Kent over the coming week:

1) Spring Half Term Fun at The Hop Farm

Enjoy a selection of rides, an indoor play centre, Driving School, Magic Castle, Animal Farm, Giant Jumping Pillows and more at the Hop Farm this half term! 

The whole family will love seeing the new additions to the animal farm, including Spring lambs and piglets. Plus, if you head to the farm on Wednesday 19th February you will have the special opportunity to meet PAW PATROL’s Chase and Marshall!

2) Maidstone Museum’s February Half Term Make-It Workshops

Get hands on this half term at Maidstone Museum’s Make-It Workshops. Children will enjoy a week of sports-themed craft activities, including creating their own friendship bracelets, making fun sock-creatures and making ‘no sew’ bunting.

When? Tuesday 18th – Friday 21st February 2020, 10:30 – 16:00. 

Prices: £3 per child, £2.50 MMF members. 

3) Half Term Explorers at Leeds Castle

Become a first-class explorer at Leeds Castle this half term! Kids can throw on a pair of wellies and follow the exciting activity booklet to help guide you around the grounds for a small additional charge (£1).  

Start your adventure in the Princess Alexandra Gardens before heading over to the popular Maze and completing a quiz in the birds of prey area!

4) Kids go Free at Howletts Wild Animal Park

This February, Howletts are offering an exclusive entry discount for families. Up to 3 children, aged 3-15 years old, can enjoy free day entry at the animal park with one full paying adult!

Explore 100 acres of historic parkland and be amazed by the largest herd of African elephants in the UK! The whole family will love seeing animals up close, including big cats, gorillas and the only giant anteaters in Kent.

5) Stories & Steam with Kent & East Sussex Railway

All aboard! Hop on the Kent & East Sussex steam train this half term and enjoy a scenic journey through Kent’s countryside along with free storytelling and a free activity book for every child! 

There are 4 steam trains running per day throughout half term. Pls, travellers on the 11am and 1.45pm trains will be able to listen to some of the ‘Peter’s Railway’ stories in a specially designated saloon carriage!

With Bodiam Castle just a short walk away, why not make a day of it?

When? Trains run from 15th – 23rd February 2020 (excluding Monday 17th and Friday 21st February).

Prices: £13 per child (3-15), £19 per adult, £45 family Travelcard (up to 2 adults and 2 children). 

6) Living with Nature at Hever Castle

Get the children out and about this half term at Hever Castle! Enjoy a falconry display, learn about different wildlife charities and take part in children’s activities.

Children are bound to love following the nature trail around Hever Castle’s stunning grounds and will also have the opportunity to get creative in the free craft workshop!

Not all of these events run daily, so be sure to take a look at the website for event dates and times.

7) February Fun & Frolics at Kent Life 

Kent Life has plenty going on this half term, with a whole host of baby animals to meet, including piglets, lambs, ponies and more! Visitors have the exclusive opportunity to join in with feeding sessions and get up close to the animals in the cuddle corner. 

You can also step back in time at the Vintage Village and explore the Victorian Petts Farmhouse through to WW2 Lenham Cottages. There’s also tractor and land train rides to enjoy and indoor and outdoor play areas!

8) Get Hands on with History at Dover Castle 

Calling all secret agents and investigators! Head down to Dover Castle this half term to join in with hands-on detective training, code cracking and clues.
