Storytelling and Book Week at Riverview Infant School Part 2... Posted on 19 February 2019 by Karen Jackson - Storytelling Lead - Riverview Infant School in General A wonderful evening with Adam and our visiting colleagues from other local schools. We learnt about the seven basic story plots. Such an important thing to remember as we encourage children to ‘invent’ their own stories. There was much laughter as we created stories together, from stories about a bear who lived on a bus to a fish with a broken tail who needed to see a doctopus! My particular highlight was a story about a very cold, badly dressed and lost T-Rex who had run out of things to eat!We finished the evening using the Storytelling Matrix from @storytellingsch and Miss Hamilton kindly shared her wonderful creation! We look forward to hearing her published version, which is currently a work in progress. An interactive, immersive, dramatic production of Puss in Boots by the extremely talented Spotlites Theatre Group, excited the entire school this morning. The children’s excitement filled the hall and many children ran to share their favourite moments with me during morning playtime. Some of the children will be bringing their souvenir ‘tails’ home with them today! Thank you @spotlites for a show to remember and revisit through our learning this week. I think our head of school, Mrs Martin, thoroughly enjoyed the performance! I’m sure she’ll be dreaming about cats and ogres tonight! A visiting photographer from @KM_newsroom came to see us and shared the joy of our wonderful display as the children surrounded Adam clutching their copies of his finest picture books. Year Two continued to ‘invent’ new stories with Adam throughout the day and Foundation Stage had an audience with Adam and listened attentively to his exciting stories! Thank you @aguillain for immersing the children of Riverview in a storytelling world. A world which everyone needs to visit from time to time!
