10 Christmas Markets to Visit in Kent

It’s that magical time of year – streets across the county are lined with snow-coated wooden huts offering festive treats, unique decorations and mulled wine. From family-friendly events complete with music and fairground rides to traditional markets promoting local produce, we’ve rounded up our top 10 picks of Christmas Markets to enjoy in Kent this season!

1) Rochester Christmas Market

Set in the picturesque gardens of Rochester Castle, this annual Christmas Market is always a hit with locals and visitors alike. With a selection of festive food and drink stalls offering delicious treats, unique Christmas gifts, decorations and fairground rides, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy. 

Plus, if you visit Rochester on 3rd  and 4th December, you can step back in time at the popular Dickensian Festival!

When? Weekends and select dates until Sunday 11th December. Generally open from 10am – 6pm; check the full list of opening times here.

2) Christmas at the Castle - Whitstable

Enjoy a selection of seasonal gifts, decorations, toys and festive food and drink from stalls outside and within the stunning Whitstable castle. The Market this year includes a magical Santa’s grotto where booking is advised to avoid disappointment. 

When? 3rd – 4th December 10am – 5pm

3) Folkestone Harbour Arm Festive Market

After a successful first year last year, the Folkestone Harbour Arm Festive Market is back and is double the size! The Folkestone Christmas Market will offer a wonderful selection of gifts, decorations and food and drink. With live entertainment, a pop up food village, arts and crafts, bespoke wooden cabins and a cinema screen showing Christmas classics, the market is bound to get you in the Christmas spirit! 

When? Open every day until 24th December. Daily from 11am – 6 pm with two late night shopping experiences on the 1st and 15th of December 5pm – 9pm

4) Canterbury Christmas Market

Set against the backdrop of the beautiful city of Canterbury, the 2022 Christmas Market promises to be bigger and better than ever, with more market stalls, events Santa’s Christmas Grotto and even a magical VR Santa’s sleigh ride!

When? Runs until 3pm Christmas Eve. Mon-Fri 10am-6pm, Saturdays 9am-6pm and Sundays 11am-4pm.

5) Traditional Christmas Market Fremlin Walk, Maidstone

The Fremlin Walk Christmas Market is back! Enjoy a festive spin on your shopping trips this season as you browse gifts and delicious food on offer in wooden Christmas huts dotted in between shops.

When? On now until 24th December 10am – 5pm.

6) Gravesend Christmas Market

The popular traditional Gravesend Christmas Market is bound to delight this year! With photo opportunities with Santa’s sleigh, Christmas interactive tail, Meet and Greet with Santa and a Children’s Magical Christmas Craft Experience along with stalls and crafts, there’s plenty of festive fun to enjoy. 7) Faversham Christmas Market

Pick up some beautiful locally made gifts and produce at the Faversham Christmas Market! Along with music, mulled wine and carol singing, there’s plenty of Christmas spirit in the historic town centre of Faversham. 

When? 9th – 11th December 11am-4pm.

8) Sheerness Christmas Market

Head over to the Sheerness Christmas market to enjoy the Christmas light switch-on and lantern parade! The Christmas market will start from 10am with stalls, crafts and entertainment. The lantern parade will begin at 2pm from McDonald’s ending at the Clocktower.

When? Saturday 3rd December 11am-5pm.

9) Castlemas – Tonbridge Castle

Make sure to check out this fabulous, festive, fun-filled day out at Tonbridge Castle’s Castlemas! There will be live performances at the bandstand, real snow fall events, a Jingle Bell Bar, Santa meet and greets as well as the amazing Mistletoe Town selling a wonderful range of independent local goods.  

When? Daily 10th – 19th December 10am – 11pm

10) The Creative Market - Tenterden

If you fancy something a little different and are looking for unique gifts this market is not to be missed. There are 25 stalls of fabulous local handmade arts, crafts, jewellery and eco-friendly items. You will find an array of gifts including Glassware, Pottery, Jewellery, Soft Furnishings, Organic Face Creams, Paintings, Gift wrap and Cards - there is something for everyone.

When? Saturday 3rd December 10am – 4pm
