Half-Term Activities in Kent



What’s on the agenda for half-term? You may find yourself researching websites and scrolling through Facebook hunting for some fun and local activities for the family. Waste no more time as we have created a family to do list for half-term. 

We have something for everyone to enjoy this half-term…Get your wellies on and prepare yourself for a thrilling trail in one of our local country parks. Kids can take full advantage of muddy puddles and explore the hidden sightings. If you’re looking for a haunted Halloween adventure, then try the learning sessions at Penshurst Place where kids can learn about how to become a Witch or Wizard. 

Forget about the housework and ditch your everyday routine, half-term fun has arrived and now you have no excuse to get out in Kent this week! 

1) Autumnal Nature Trail 

Keep the kids busy and get them out in the fresh air with this Autumnal nature trail. Explore the outdoors in this beautiful garden at Smallhythe Place.

 2) Witches and Wizards and Spells and Tricks 

 Learn some spellbinding tricks in a witches and wizards lesson!  Learn how to become a Witch or Wizard at Penshurst Place. Enjoy the adventure playground, toy museum and everything Penshurst Place has to offer.

Time: Sessions at 12:00 Noon, 1:30PM, 3:00PM

3) October half-term family fun day at Tenterden Garden Centre 

 Halloween fun for the whole family with face painting, carve your own pumpkin, fancy dress and theatre experience with performances. 

 Location: Tenterden Garden Centre, Appledore Road, Tenterden, TN30 7HT

4) Activity Trail at Shorne Woods Country Park 

 Explore the woods following this self-led activity trail and see what you can discover about the park. All completed trails will receive a small prize. 

 Location: Shorne Woods Country Park, Brewers Rd, Shorne, Gravesend, DA12 3HX

5) Professor Crichton on Digging Dinosaurs 

 Presenting a series of exciting events as part of the Family learning festival in October half-term. Lyminge library are hosting a FREE dinosaur and fossil workshop. There will be a chance to hunt for some fossils and get stuck into some dinosaur themed activities and craft.

 6) Frightful fun at Notcutts with free Halloween Activity trail 

 Families in Kent can enjoy a haunting Halloween activity trail where spooky characters have been hidden around the garden centre. Once they have been found children can choose a tasty treat at the end of the trail.
