Our Top 5 Christmas Markets in Kent

Christmas Markets originated in Germany during the Middle Ages, townsfolk would be able to purchase local produce, handmade gifts, toys and stock up on supplies for the long winter months ahead in the town or church square. Traditionally a local child, dressed as an angel would walk into the market to open trading to celebrate the beginning of advent. The child would represent the “Christ child” and so the name “Christkindelsmarkt” (Christmas Market in German) was born.
