The Effects of Stress on your Body #NSAD

It is National Stress Awareness Day (NSAD) on the first wednesday of November each year, an annual event to not only raise awareness of the effects of psychological distress in the workplace, but to also teach us how to overcome stress and promote the importance of wellbeing for individuals and organisations.

In some circumstances when we feel low levels of stress, our bodies generally respond positively by providing us with quick bursts of heightened alertness and energy, particularly during activities that we consider challenging and stressful. This stress response allows us to perform better so a small amount of stress can be good for us.

However, when stress is activated for too long and occurs regularly, it can cause a damaging effect to our bodies.

This interesting video below gives an extraordinary incite as to what goes on inside our body when chronically stressed.

For tips on how to de-stress, read our helpful blog article, How to Beat the “Winter blues” and follow the 10 strategies mentioned to help you de-stress and feel happier.
