Hair-raising Halloween Events This October Half Term in Kent


You’ve made it through an entire 1st term of a new school year, well done! Now comes the tough part… keeping the family busy this half-term! Here’s our list of things to do in Kent that will hopefully help contribute to a hassle-free, relaxing break off from school (for you educators!).

13th – 31st October: Bluewater Monster Hunt 

Pick up your free map from the concierge desk outside of M&S on the lower floor, and find the twelve spooky monsters that are on the loose! Find them all, and win yourselves a prize.

20th – 31st October: Screamland, Dreamland Margate

Dreamland transforms to Screamland for 11 days this October, with interactive scare mazes, and sideshows set to thrill and haunt even the darkest soul! You can access all 6 scare mazes, use all of the rides and even listen to live music and DJs on stage. An award winning events, and it’s even bigger than it was last year… maybe you’ll be leaving the kids at home but you can’t be missing this one.

21st – 29th October: Penshurst Palace Halloween Events

Perhaps you’d like to find the abandoned brooms from a coven of witches, or take a selfie with the ghostly ghoul himself. Maybe you want to hear a spooky story from the ugly witch of Penshurst Palace, or a not too spooky story and fancy dress competition! Either way, Penshurst has many family events to help you celebrate Halloween and the October Half Term.

21st – 29th October: Hever Castle Halloween Fun

Hever Castle has lots going on this Halloween and has even unveiled a new play area, named Tudor Towers. It’s for children 7-14, and features three slides, two poles, and many more interactive elements in the areas named Boleyn, Waldergrave and Astor – The castle’s most well-known owners. Of course, you can still visit the castle itself and the gardens; also you can see the lake, take part in archery, shield painting and many more!

21st – 31st October: Kent Life Halloween Spooktacular 

Family-friendly Halloween events as Kent Life transforms itself at this time of year. There is pumpkin carving, creepy crawlies, farm rides and daily fancy dress competitions. 23rd – 27th October you can see a fast moving show starring some of the most feared pantomime villains! Or maybe you’re interested in joining them after dark to explore the spooky sights they offer. There’s a guided tour to the ugly bug ball, and spooky tales on the land train.

21st – 29th October: Betteshanger Country Park, Deal

Go on a mysterious self-guided trail around the country park and follow Tawny Owl, Guardian of the Woods, and his loyal friend Spider to find ten mystical sites, work out riddles, solve puzzles and crack the code to claim the prize!

21st – 29th October: Dover Castle

If you’re feeling brave, you can take on Kkent’s most haunted castle in this frighteningly fun day out. You can enter the tunnel of terror, have a go at creepy crafts, or even scare the staff and win prizes for the best Halloween costume. Also, Dover Castle is hosting an outdoors cinema, showing some thrilling pictures that you may have to leave the children behind for!

21st – 29th October: Halloween at Howletts Animal Park

Howling- half- term- fun every day this half term with spooky activities, games, trails to win prizes, crafts, pumpkin carving, face painting and fancy dress competition on the Sunday! And of course you can see some of the fantastic animals at Howletts too, including African Elephants, Lowland Gorillas and Black Rhinos!

22nd October: MMK Mind Fun Run at Mote Park

Maidstone and Mid-Kent Mind are raising awareness of mental health with 5K and 10K fun runs this October with your help! With no entry fee, but sponsorships and donations are welcome, you can run at your own pace either on your own or with your family too!

27th October: The Monster Dash at Mote Park 

Walk, jog or run past pumpkins, witches, devils and monster and enjoy four Halloween extravaganza zones including UV foam, bubbles, gunge and devlish paint! Wear your Halloween fancy dress and the best dressed will win a chocolatey treat! Will you dare to go down the trick finish, or enter the treat finish?
