Six Ways to Wellbeing - It’s Competition Time! #GivingAndCaring

Hopefully by now, you've seen our blog post on Six Ways to Wellbeing, where we introduce our campaign to promote good mental health within Kent schools! This post is introducing our new competition to go alongside this, where you can win a fantastic prize for you and your school! You can watch the competition launch video here:

Throughout term 2, we will be focusing on two segments from the wheel of wellbeing, giving, and caring for the planet. So let's talk about giving, and how it can help your wellbeing. Research suggests that acts of giving and kindness, in both small and large quantities are associated with positive mental wellbeing. Giving to others stimulates areas in the brain associated with reward, which creates positive feelings of self-worth, a sense of purpose, and will also help strengthen and create new relationships!

Maybe you’d prefer to care for our planet, if you make just a few small changes to the way you go about your day to day activities, you could make a huge difference to both yourself, and the planet too. A clean environment is essential for healthy living, our wellbeing and the future generations to come. Caring for the planet and the environment around us can make our world a much nicer place to live.

We may be working on giving and caring, but you can get involved too! You can enter our new competition, partnered with the School's Personnel Service, and showcase what you and your school are doing to give, and care for the planet. We're asking you to submit your pictures, stories, and experiences or how you are helping others by email, or by social media using the hashtag #SPSWellbeing. The school with the best story to tell will win a fantastic prize for themselves, and also for their school. You can find full competition details here

On the SPS website, you can also find suggestions and ideas on how to take part, as well as our wellbeing ambassador pack with more information on taking the lead on wellbeing in your school. You can also see what we are doing, and find more ideas by following our social media pages:

You could also look at volunteering your time, to take part in giving and caring for your planet and community. You can volunteer individually or as part of a team, and it can be a one-off activity, or a shorter, regular commitment. Maybe someone in your school already volunteers; you could get your whole school community involved! For volunteering ideas, visit Do It they feature plenty of opportunities in and around Kent.

We really look forward to seeing all the wonderful ways in which you are joining us in finding a way to wellbeing, and sharing in the brilliant activities undertaken by your school!

We'll see you back on the blog soon, for updates and the announcement of the competition winner in December!
