Happy World Teachers' Day - 5th October 2017 Posted on 5 October 2017 by Rebecca Taylor - Kent-Teach in General Today (Wednesday 5th October 2017) is World Teachers’ Day which is internationally recognised to celebrate teachers and to thank and honour them for the amazing work that they do. World Teacher Day was founded in 1994 and ever since has provided a great way to raise awareness of the profession and recognise the effort educators put in to ensure children get the best start in life. This year's theme is “Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers” and one way to recognise the amazing work that teachers do is by thanking them. Here's what primary school children, Ethan and Xanthe think of their teachers...Ethan (Year 2): "I love school because I like doing PE. I love learning maths. My teacher is really kind, she does fun lessons for us. My teacher has a calm voice and smiles lots. She is really good at science."Xanthe (Reception): "I love playing with all of my friends at school. My teachers are happy and kind. We play fun games with our teachers. My teachers show us how to cut things, colours things and we make lots. My teachers show us how to share." World Teacher Day is the perfect opportunity for you to thank your teacher/colleague so why not let them know that they are doing an amazing job. We are thanking our network of teachers for their regular contributions they make to our Kent-Teach blog. Check out who they are on our Twitter feed. So who will you be thanking today? There’s still time to nominate someone for the National Happiness Award. Interested? Find out how.
