What if the best photo could change the world? #WorldPhotoDay

“I believe that photography has the power to tell stories, inspire generations and create positive impact in the world.” – Korske Ara (Founder, World Photo Day)

World Photo Day, held annually on 19th August, was founded in 2009 by an Australian photographer, Korske Ara, who was passionate about connecting people, telling their stories and inspiring positive change in the world. The event has grown tremendously from just 250 participants when it started in 2010 to last year’s whopping 500 million people that took part around the world.

World Photo Day celebrates the passion encompassed by photography lovers all around the world, past and present. The World Photo Day team believe everyone has a responsibility to inspire change through their everyday choices or through organisations they support and therefore the team are encouraging people to share their inspirational photos with them.

Interestingly, the first photograph was taken by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1826. If you look closely at the photo to the right, you will see a view from a bedroom window which was taken at Le Gras in France, through the heliography photographic process.

It is incredible how time has changed and how far advanced technology is. We are now fortunate enough to take instant photos from a click of a button whether this be via our phones or with an actual camera; either way we can produce spectacular photos of high quality and use these images to clearly tell our stories.

If you want to take part then register for the World Photo Day event where you can share up to 12 of your best photos. It’s all about sharing YOUR world with THE world; whether you consider it spectacular or not, big or small, share it with everyone and give people an insight into your story.

Below is a collection of photos in the form of a short 30 second video from us at Kent-Teach. They provide interesting insights into each of us regardless of the captions and are good examples of how captions simply add understanding to photos, whereas the photos themselves are actually telling our stories.

Happy World Photo Day for 19th August - get sharing!

Instagram is a brilliant mobile application that allows you to simply capture and share the world's moments with your followers so why not follow our Kent-Teach Instagram page and view our stories through the beauty of photography.
