Gaining Valuable Experience in Different Schools

My ultimate goal is to become a teacher and I have gained some valuable experience over the years (whilst completing my degree) which has helped me gain a place onto my teacher training programme (which starts in September).

Working in a number of schools was a great introduction to education, schools and teaching! I have been in so many schools that I didn’t even know existed. I could really see how much a school’s ethos impacts on how they work. I have had the opportunity to go into mainstream and special schools as well as private and state schools. And I have read so many policies, as you can imagine, that I know there are so many approaches to one problem.

As it is now the summer holidays, this can only mean one thing… I’m about to start my teacher training! And although I have been lucky enough to gain some really valuable and varied experiences, I cannot wait to be able to watch the progression of children in one class and begin to have an effective role in supporting that progression. To have the opportunities to really show my potential and, of course, to also learn from those opportunities. To be able to build a rapport with like-minded individuals and their classes whilst I find my teaching feet.

I feel so ready for one of the hardest years of my career! And I’m sure I will soon find out how ready I really am but that’s part of the excitement, isn’t it? For now, I have already been given some work to do before it officially starts. So, I’m going to dive right in!
