Activities to make the most of your half term!


It is half term week from 30th May until 3rd of June – well done all, you made it! 

Do you need some inspiration on things to do during half term? Kent has various exciting things to do throughout the week and we’ve picked a few for the whole family to enjoy.

28th May – 5th June: Sheepstakes at Kent Life, Sandling

Visit Kent Life for a chance to watch sheep racing and ferret racing. There are also sheep shearing demonstrations and you can meet the sheep dog! You could also go on a tractor or donkey ride, there’s water zorbing, a tug of war and so much more to enjoy. Most activities are free to participate in as well. 

28th May – 5th June: Summer Half Term Fun at the Farm, Hop Farm, Paddock Wood

Visit the Hop Farm for a fun filled day with rides and inflatables, indoor soft play, a 4D cinema and more. The characters from Paw Patrol, a children’s TV show, also visit each day, hosting their party dances.  If the weather is nice, there will be a lunchtime BBQ, but there are other great places to eat too.  

28th May – 5th June: Edwardian Life at Hever Castle, Edenbridge

For those history enthusiasts, go back to the early 20th century and enjoy a fascinating glimpse of the Edwardian Era. There’s an Edwardian School where you can experience old fashioned PE, learn around reading, writing and arithmetic in an old fashioned classroom. You can enjoy traditional fairground games and learn all about famous Edwardians. You could win prizes for being the best dressed boy or girl! Entry to this event costs £15.50 per adult and £8.75 per child (if bought online). 

28th -30th May: Grand Medieval Joust at Leeds Castle

Watch full armoured jousters battling it out in a real competition; there’s an exciting programme of events including medieval music and dance. Throughout the day, there are demonstrations on arming the knights, firepower, trebuchet displays. Entry costs £24.50 for adults and £16.50 for children. 

1st -2nd June: CSI at Wildwood, Herne Bay

Who killed Mr Bunny? Examine the woodland crime scene and use forensic techniques to solve the murder mystery. This event is open to children ages 6 – 12 years and entry is only £2.00 per person. 

4th June: Dino Day at Maidstone Museum, Maidstone

Meet Rex, the big, fast and scary dinosaur - he’ll be stomping around the courtyard! He appears at various times, which can be found on their website. There are other activities to take part in throughout the day, including face painting, dinosaur mask making and dinosaur colouring sheets. Entry to the museum and to meet Rex is free!
