Fun Autumn Half Term Ideas


October Half Term is finally here! You’ve made it through the first term of school - WELL DONE ALL! 

Although the weather is getting colder and the nights are drawing in, there are loads of fun things to do outside this autumn so don’t miss out! 

Here are some ideas to make the most of your Half Term:

Take a Woodland Walk

There are many beautiful woodlands in Kent to go to this autumn and now the leaves are turning it is a beautiful time of year to take a stroll. Spending time outdoors walking is proven to make you feel less stressed and more relaxed and is the perfect way to wind down.  You can find a list of popular walks in Kent with maps here.

Cook up an Autumnal Recipe 

Now the summer is over and salads are out it's time to cook more hearty filling meals to fill and warm you up. Most people have their traditional family favourites that they eat during the colder months but how about trying something new this half term like a Warming Pumpkin and Butterbean Bowl.

Pumpkin Carving

You can find loads of great ideas for carving pumpkins online and can download free stencils to create cute or creepy Halloween decorations. Once you’ve carved your pumpkin you can use the flesh to make a lovely soup or how about celebrating Halloween in true American style by making pumpkin pie! 

Meet some Wildlife

It wouldn’t be half term without Halloween and there are loads of spooky goings on in Kent over the week to keep you entertained but if being scared isn’t your thing how about making some new friends with some of Kent’s cutest wildlife instead! You can meet the owls at Leeds Castle or visit the variety of wildlife parks and zoos that Kent has to offer. If you don’t want to venture outside even just spending time with your beloved family pet will do your wellbeing wonders as it is proven that stroking a pet is calming and beneficial for your health.
