CARETAKER NEEDED – PART TIME ROLE

Salary: NJC D2 Scale (Salary FTE £18,933 to £21,748 for 37 hours pro rata)

Contract: Permanent Part-Time Contract

30 hours a week on a split shift basis

52 weeks a year

Start Date: January 2022

 

Due to the retirement of the current post-holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen at All Saints Church of England Primary School for a suitably skilled and reliable Caretaker to join our excellent team of staff. The role is to support the Business Manager and Head Teacher in keeping the school environment fit for purpose.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and caretaking activities at the school, as directed by the Business Manager and Head Teacher.  They will need to be flexible, self-motivated, have good communication skills and a good understanding of health and safety requirements in public buildings. 

We are looking to appoint someone with a range of proven skills in relevant maintenance and DIY related tasks.

In conjunction with the Business Manager, the successful candidate will:

  • Ensure the school is functional on a daily basis and respond to any day-to-day issues that may arise.
  • Be responsible for the general maintenance and caretaking of the school, for example painting and decorating and any repairs that are required.
  • Have a proven good level of understanding of the health and safety requirements of a school site.
  • Be responsible for the daily cleaning of the school and the supervision of two cleaning staff.
  • Oversee the security of the school premises with daily unlocking and locking duties.
  • Keep the school safe at all times including during adverse weathers, for example sweeping, de-icing and providing advice on whether the site should be open/shut.
  • Maintain the plants, bushes and garden areas within the school site.
  • Have excellent time management skills with an ability to prioritise duties and work on their own initiative

All Saints Church of England Primary School is a very successful family school located at the heart of the diverse community of Chatham, Kent. The main school has 315 children on roll from Reception to Year 6 and the nursery has a capacity for 60 more.

The last Ofsted inspection graded the school “good” with outstanding features and our last Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) concurred by grading the school as "good" too.

In September 2015, with three other local Church schools, we formed Medway Anglican Schools Trust.
