We are seeking to appoint for a FIXED TERM of one year, a class teacher for a year 5 class (although this could change), who is committed to raising the attainment and aspirations of our children. In return you will join a wonderful team of staff and a vibrant school community. Applications from NQT's looking for their first post are welcomed - we will be able to offer support and professional development to someone aspiring to be an outstanding practitioner. We are also happy to receive applications from experienced staff.

The start date will be September 2021. The position is FIXED TERM for one year and will be full-time hours.

Given the current circumstances, we are unable to do “real-life” tours but I am offering a virtual tour where I will guide you round our 360 tour and you can ask any questions. The 3 dates for these are Thursday 4th March at 9:30am, Monday 8th March at 3:30pm, and Friday 12th March at 9:30am. These will happen via Zoom. Please contact the school office at the following email manager@whitstable-junior.kent.sch.uk to book a place.

Our school is committed to equality as well as safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Information about the school

Being located on the High Street and close to the seafront means we can take pride in being right in the heart of Whitstable, able to access the excellent facilities to enrich our children’s learning and play an important role in our local community.

We aim to be a truly inclusive school and our intake reflects the diverse range of socio economic backgrounds and wide range of academic starting points. We strive for high standards to enable all children to attain their potential and our recent outcomes, especially for disadvantaged children have been impressive.

We do work hard at maintaining high standards in key areas of the curriculum but we also place a very high value on other aspects of schooling including the wide range of opportunities through our focus on the arts, respect for other cultures and faiths, sport and visits to the many places of interest locally.

We have a very strong emphasis on mental health and well-being for all members of our school community, and are especially proud of our Well-Being Team and having gained the Carnegie Mental Health Award.

We have a great team with everyone working towards our vision to be a school that is considered excellent by all the people and groups that have a part to play in helping us achieve our success.
