English Teacher

Salary: 8 to 9, 41 weeks £25,095 to £28,680 (depending on qualifications and experience)

Location:  Pierview Academy, Gravesend

Contract type:  Full Time, Term Time Only

Pierview Academy is on a journey to become a “Good” school. This is an exciting time as we are growing both in numbers of pupils and in our positive reputation.

Pierview Academy provides continuity in learning for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans. We are a short, medium and long-term provision for learners on the autistic spectrum or who have other special educational needs and challenging behaviour. We cater for young people in their secondary and post-16 school years. The overarching purpose of our provision is to work with learners so that they are able to overcome the barriers to learning that they have previously encountered. We aim to offer flexible, structured and supportive needs led approaches.

We are looking for an English Teacher who will actively promote the curriculum policy within the school by planning, delivering and assessing English and some other subjects. They will support learners' needs and focus on their personal and social development, ensuring all learners reach their full potential.

We are committed to the highest standards of safeguarding and all posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Information about the school

ALP Schools aims to create flexible, individualised programmes of learning support for young people who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to access mainstream education.

From the point of referral, we focus on the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) of the learner and on family support, in order to provide the most effective and appropriate educational intervention.

Working closely with the Local Authorities and local colleges, schools and academies we provide outcomes that are in accordance with the individual needs of each learner. We specialise in emergency, short, medium and long term education placements of young people with SEND including (but not limited to) Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Emotional, Social and Behavioural Difficulties, challenging behaviour and mental health difficulties.

Our overall aim is to reintegrate or progress learners into suitable, long term education, training or employment. To achieve this, ALP Schools provides a more informal and nurturing approach to teaching and learning where dedicated tutors develop a close working relationship with the learners and their families.
