Advert

We have a vacancy for an experienced class teacher in a Year 5/6 class from September 2020. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative teacher who has drive, enthusiasm and a strong understanding of what it means to be part of a community and family-centred small village school.

You must be a dedicated, creative and inclusive teacher who will put the children at the centre of everything you do and, as a church school, we expect all applicants to be supportive of our Christian ethos. Evidence of good/outstanding teaching is essential.

You would be working as part of a kind, supportive and hard-working team where children are also well supported by our great TA team who work closely with our teachers to ensure all children's needs are met.

We are a highly effective school which recognises individual strengths in our staff team and is committed to professional development. We can offer you a wonderful environment, fabulous children and the opportunity to work with us to develop our creative curriculum. We love outdoor learning, physical activity and making the most of our beautiful surroundings, so make sure you tell us all about your strengths in these areas.

We were judged to be Good in our last SIAMS Inspection and Good by OFSTED.

Our School is totally committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post is therefore subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and two professional references.

School visits are warmly encouraged and can be arranged either by telephoning the school office on 01227 730442 or via email to headteacher@chilham.kent.sch.uk

Information about the school

Chilham St. Mary's is a friendly school with a real family atmosphere located in the heart of our historic village. Each child is valued as unique and filled with potential which we seek to nurture and encourage.

We are a small school with 4 classes of wonderful, hardworking children led by a dedicated team of education professionals. We are housed in five beautiful buildings on one site, two of which are Victorian and one dates back to the Tudor era.

We have strong and supportive links with the local community and the church, and we pride ourselves on our strong christian vision and values. The school plays a role in the village Remembrance Service in November and the lighting of the Christmas Tree in the Village Square each December.

We embrace small community rural living with visits to our local fire station and regular visits to the mobile library. We have regular forest school sessions enabling our children to access the curriculum in new and exciting ways. Our Year 6 children take part in a hugely enjoyable residential trip each year and also take part in the annual Cathedral Day organised by the Diocese of Canterbury.

Chilham St Mary’s has a vibrant P.T.A. that organise events and activities throughout the year. The school is also an associate member of the CARE collaboration family of schools.
