Advert

We have a vacancy for Midday Meal Supervisor to join our friendly lunchtime team.

The position is for 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only plus up to 5 additional staff training days as required.

Under the direction of the Head of Department or Class Teachers our Midday Meals Supervisors work cooperatively with class teams to meet the learning, social and care needs of pupils during the lunch time period. Main duties include preparation of the eating area, assisting with the service and preparation of food (ie, cutting or liquidising as appropriate for individual pupils) assisting pupils in the use of cutlery, opening packets, peeling fruit etc, clearing and cleaning the eating area after use, and providing support to class staff during lunchtime play and activities.

Due to the high level of need of some pupils, responsibilities will include intimate personal care, feeding pupils where necessary by gastric tube (with relevant training) and administration of medication (subject to training). Therefore whilst experience of working in a special school is not essential, some knowledge or experience of the issues faced by children with special educational needs or disabilities would be desirable.  Knowledge of British Sign Language (BSL) would be desirable but is not essential.

In line with our commitment to safeguarding the wellbeing of our pupils ALL shortlisted candidates will be subject to an Enhanced Data and Barring Service check (formerly CRB).
