Thistle Hill Academy are looking to appoint a SENCo to start in January 2020. The successful applicant would also have initial oversight of our Specialist Resourced Provision until September 2020 (currently 2 children).

We are looking for applicants with previous experience working as a SENCo and who have already completed the National Award for SEN Coordination. They should also have demonstrated outstanding practice when in role as a classroom teacher with experience of working with children with SEMH needs. However, we will also consider applicants who are currently still working towards the National Award or experienced teachers who wish to start this.

The successful candidate will benefit from working collaboratively with the other Special Educational Needs Coordinators that work within the Trust and be part of an inspirational and creative team working within Thistle Hill Academy.

This strategic role will include leading, developing and supporting effective practice for children with special and additional needs. There will be a heavy focus on developing teachers to provide ‘quality first’ teaching, supporting class teachers to remove barriers to learning and early identification of special need.

In our SRP we aim to equip pupils with the skills that they require to function successfully in a mainstream class. The SENCo will work closely with the SRP Teacher and outside agencies to ensure the most effective provision for each individual child.

In addition to the oversight of the day to day running and organisation of the SRP, the SENCo will have responsibility for leading on Annual Review meetings and statutory EHCP paperwork.
