OUR TUNBRIDGE WELLS SITE IS RECRUITING A PASTORAL SUPPORT OFFICER -TEACHING ASSISTANT who can:

Lead learning sessions for groups and individual learners under the guidance of the Pastoral Manager which might include activities relating to staying safe, managing physical,emotional and sexual health and wellbeing,and any other curriculum activities highlighted by new guidance and /or individual needs and concerns.

Contribute positively to developing the pastoral strategy in the context of school, local and national demands. Support the pastoral team to be fully involved in the successful  implementation of the strategy and actively strive to identify and remove any barriers to success.

Support referrals to and  communicate very effectively and positively with a wide range of external agencies for health and safeguarding. Attend multi agency meetings as required .

Under the guidance of the Pastoral Manager maintain and review safeguarding audits to ensure emerging trends of need are recognised  and addressed swiftly for individuals and groups of learners.  Undertake safeguarding training as required to provide effective assistance to the Designated Safeguarding Lead team.

Coordinate and support staff teams to keep excellent records relating to pastoral interventions and activities and students’ learning, so that pastoral support plans and case studies are developed, achievement and progress optimised, and prior learning built on.

Where a need is identified by the Leadership team,  provide occasional CPD and school to school support to the local teaching and learning community, both across Broomhill Bank School North and West sites and to the wider teaching and learning community.

Support Pastoral Manager in the day to day administrative, operational and organisational tasks relating to the pastoral function, including prioritisation of daily tasks and allocation of caseloads, staff and resources.

Support the transition and induction process for new students to the school including for individuals who have barriers to full attendance. Coordinate and provide as required off site transition support for students and families.

Broomhill Bank is a co-educational Foundation Special School for students with Communication and Interaction needs who all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Our education provision is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and our residential provision is rated ‘Outstanding’. We work to prepare our students for life, through academic achievement, therapeutic provision to ensure their wellbeing and by being part of the wider community.

There are two sites. Broomhill Bank West is in Rusthall near Tunbridge Wells. Broomhill Bank North is in Hextable near Swanley. Our North site has bespoke residential provision and semi-independent living accommodation.

Students are taught in small classes of 8-10 according to level of need, with lessons led by subject specialist teachers. We facilitate students to learn as independently as possible. Across Key Stage 4 and 5 students can undertake a variety of accredited qualifications including GCSE, Entry Level and Functional Skills. Our Sixth Form focuses students on preparation for life so that alongside academic achievement they can develop the life and work-related skills which will be vital to their future independence and self-sufficiency.
