The Governing Board at Pembury Primary School are seeking to appoint a motivated and efficient Clerk.

The clerk will be accountable to the Governing Board and will work closely alongside the Chair of Governors and Headteacher.  We operate the circle model and meet at least six times a year. 

The clerk is responsible for

  • Supporting the meetings of the full governing body and a small number of other meetings.  This will include negotiating agendas with the chairs and circulating, minute taking and providing timely acurate records of minutes
  • Providing up to date advice and support on governance where possible, or accessing and circulating this after meetings
  • Maintaining registers of attendance and records as needed

We are looking for some who is highly organised with a keen eye for detail, be informed about governance and be committed to their futher training as a clerk.  The full governing board meetings take place at Pembury School and usually begin at 6.00pm for two hours.  There are six meetings per year.

Ideally we are looking for someone with previous clerking experience but this is not essential.  We are a friendly governing board and have a supportive school community.
