Come and  join our team at Thurnham C of E Infant School. 

A caring and proactive Learning Support Assistant is required to work with a child with high levels of anxiety. The position would start as soon as possible.

Please note, the duration of the employment will only be for the period the child is at the school which will be until the end of Summer term 2021.

Having experience of working with children whose behaviour can be challenging is highly desirable. An ablity to help calm and give support to help sensory regualtion is also implortant for this role.

This position would be for 25 hours over 5 days a week (part time a possibility).

This post involves regular contact with children and staff and therefore the successful candidate needs to be able to relate well to children and adults alike. Ideally, in applying for this post you will: 

  • have a good understanding of children's needs, both pastoral and educational
  • be able to remain calm under pressure
  • have good levels of literacy and numeracy
  • have excellent communication skills
  • have the highest expectations of children’s behaviour
  • be able to adapt their style to meet the needs of the children as they present at the time
  • have a strong empathy with children’s diverse needs
  • have good initiative and be flexible
  • have experience of supporting children in a learning environment
  • be able to liaise with the class teacher, providing feedback and keeping records of progress and behaviour as required
  • support the social, emotional, behavioural and medical needs of pupils as necessary
  • prepare resources and undertake administrative tasks
  • work as part of the team and have a sense of humour

The responsibilities will include:

  • supporting individual and small groups of pupils and address their specific needs
  • working in collaboration with the class teacher to set personalised targets
  • delivery of interventions, as directed by the class teacher
  • supervision of pupils at break times
