Churchill is excited to be seeking an individual for this relatively new role of Head of PE.  Although only a part time role, it's a very important position within the school. It will allow the successful candidate a chance to fully take part in the development of the school and yet support a good work life balance.

The role of Head of PE is a high profile one and we are seeking an outstanding and inspirational sportsperson and leader.  The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated teacher of PE with an ability to teach a variety of sports and have a proven track record as a games player or coach.  They will also be an efficient and effective administrator with an eye for detail.  A ready ease and authority with parents and pupils will be very important, as too will be strong ICT skills.

Finally in our new department stamina, resilience and a good sense of humour are also key attributes. The post offers an exceptional applicant a chance to move into a leadership role and be able to create a new vision of PE and sport at Churchill.

The new Senior Leadership Team are sports players themselves and are driving the change.  There is already a small team of committed staff and volunteers which we are hoping to extend.

The hours for this role would be Monday - Wednesday; 12.00 - 4.30pm. We would like to recruit ASAP as this post is vacant, however are happy to consider applications for an April start.

At Churchill, we take the safeguarding of our children very seriously. As such, we follow safer recruitment procedures. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check and references will be taken up.

Visits to the school are encouraged.

Information about the school

We are proud of our fabulous one-form entry primary school, which serves the community of Westerham, a charming market town in Kent. The school, which is situated in amazing grounds, attained Ofsted "Good" in Jan 2020, and is continuing to grow from strength to strength.

We provide a safe and caring environment for our children where they can thrive, whilst promoting Christian and British values. Naturally the children are considered to be our greatest asset, which ensures they are at the heart of our strategic and operational decision making. The school fosters an ethos where our pupils are keen to learn, well-behaved and a joy to teach. We encourage their development into caring and socially minded individuals, who value diversity and inclusion and who actively support the local community and beyond with initiatives; supporting the local food bank and a variety of local charities are just two examples.

Our collective behaviours, teaching and decision-making are underpinned by our core values; Respect, Excellence, Determination, Courage, Creativity and Teamwork; all of which ensure a well-founded and consistent approach in everything we do.

We have strong links with St Mary’s Church Westerham and participate in the many activities aligned with the religious calendar, which draws us closer to the community as a whole. A team from the church regularly lead our worship, providing guidance to ensure that Christian worship and distinctiveness are an integral part of the school.

The school has a breakfast club and after school club which can be used by staff.
