Wanted! An energetic, enthusiastic and motivated teaching assistant to join our friendly and welcoming team at Kennington CE Academy, we are a good school with outstanding elements!

The position involves working in partnership with class teachers with an aim to achieve the best outcomes for our children, supporting individuals and groups of pupils. You need to understand how to motivate and encourage pupils to make progress and have the ability to differentiate and adapt learning programmes to suit varying needs.  A knowledge of the new National Curriculum is desirable.

Here at Kennington CE Academy we believe that the learning environment extends to the playground and lunch hall so part of this role includes lunchtime supervision where we aim to teach children social skills whilst sharing meals and engage children in active play. There is also a possibility of extending the hours to include Breakfast Club.

The successful applicant will have a good standard of spoken English and will have achieved English and Maths GCSE qualifications to at least a 'C' grade. An NVQ Level 3 in Learning Support or Level 3 Teaching Assistant is desirable, or at least a willingness to undertake this qualification. The successful person will support our Christian values and ethos.

This position is part time. The hours of work will be from 8.45 am to 1.15 pm Monday - Friday, 22 ½ hours per week. Pay is at KR3, pro-rata term-time only (39 weeks) or 7.30am – 1.15pm including Breakfast Club.

Information about the school

Kennington CE Academy is 3 form entry (12 classes) for Key stage 2 of 360 pupils, situated in North Ashford and serving a mixed community of children who are enthusiastic about learning and their school.

We have strong relationships with our feeder Infant school, Downs View and The Towers, our nearest high school. Our church school status has led us to develop close links with the local parish church. We are sponsored by Aquila, the Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust (www.aquilatrust.co.uk)
