The John Wesley Church of England Methodist Voluntary Aided Primary School is dedicated to the provision of a complete education for every child. The students, staff and governors are looking to appoint a creative, inspirational and forward-looking leader to take the school into a new exciting era.

A strong Christian ethos, judged as Outstanding in our recent SIAMS, and faith guides everything that the John Wesley School does. The successful candidate, whilst not required to be a practising Christian, would need to fully embrace and promote our Christian approach. We have recently completed the expansion to a two-form entry school having just completed our 10th academic year. We aim to develop the whole child, by providing an environment that provides supportive opportunities throughout the school for each child to grow, encourage self-discipline, respect and care for others. Our 400+ children are highly involved in the life of the school.

The successful candidate will need to show strong and clear leadership, vision and determination along with compassion. The Headteacher, working with the governing body, will set the strategic direction to move the school forwards. It is essential that the Headteacher is a strong and effective communicator with the ability to inspire children, parents, staff, governors and maintain links with the local churches. Operationally, the Headteacher will need to have strong people management skills, financial acumen and the ability to ensure that effective systems exist across the school.

The John Wesley CEMP School

The John Wesley CEM Primary School is a two-form mainstream primary school with currently 450 pupils. We are also extremely fortunate to have a Specialist Resource Provision for SLCN and host a Special School EYFS O & A class on our site. At The John Wesley CEM Primary School, we provide a broad and balanced education for all the children within our care. We aim to create a happy, nurturing and stimulating learning environment in which all the children can grow in self-esteem and fulfil their potential. We believe every pupil should be able to participate in all school activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm.

We have a team of dedicated and committed teachers, support staff and governors and a strong relationship with our local Diocesan church, Methodist church and our local community. The behaviour and attitudes displayed by our pupils are very good and we work closely with parents to provide the best possible opportunities for our children. We are proud of our positive and caring ethos through which all our pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential.
