The Folkestone School for Girls is an outstanding school where excellence is encouraged in all areas. It is an 11-18 selective girls’ grammar school with approximately 1000 students, including 250 in the sixth form. It has a long history of excellent examination results and the staff are proud of the fact that it is a happy caring school where girls are encouraged to aspire, to find out who they are and to develop their strengths across a broad spectrum of activities. Girls are encouraged and nurtured during their time at the school and leave as well-educated young women with highly-developed interpersonal skills and a broad range of interests. The girls are confident in their own worth, prepared for an independent life, ready and able to make a positive contribution to society and go on to pursue varied and fulfilling careers. There is a broad and balanced curriculum and a wide range of extra-curricular and out of school activities; endorsed by several awards such as the Healthy School Award, Sportsmark and Artsmark Gold.
The School is an integral member of a Training School Partnership and works closely with Canterbury Christ Church University and other awarding bodies to provide training for all the schools in Shepway. In addition, there is an extensive, personalised programme of in-house training for all the staff at the School.
