The Governors wish to appoint an excellent teacher of English to teach up to A Level. This post would be suitable for an experienced teacher looking for leadership responsibilities in a dynamic and supportive department.

The successful applicant will be an excellent classroom practitioner who will be responsible for leading a well qualified and dedicated team, to ensure high standards in teaching and learning are achieved and maintained. The successful candidate will be expected to take responsibility for one full key stage and assist the Lead Teacher with the development of other aspects of teaching and learning in the subject.

The school has a compressed curriculum with most students taking their GCSEs in Year 10. English is taught in sets in Year 8 and at GCSE. Year 7 students are taught in form groups, and AS and A2 classes contain students from across Years 11 to 12 and Years 12 to 13, depending on the individual learning pathway of the student. Staff in the department work well as a team- at present there are 7 full-time teachers and 2 part-time teachers in the department, all of whom teach across the key stages. The department has a Lead Teacher and a Deputy Lead Teacher, the latter having specific responsibility for one key stage.
