Job Title: Relief Caretaker - equating to approximately 5 hours a week. In addition to cover for permanent caretaker.

Job Summary: To carry out additional maintenance and development work on our premises as required. To provide a general cleaning and maintenance service. To cover for permanent caretaker if required.

Key Responsibilities: • Key holder and out of hours emergency contact. • Liaison with external contractors, when on site, and management of deliveries • Opening and closing of site. Maintain security of premises, check CCTV, where applicable, repair doors, latches and fencing to ensure site is safe. • Assistance with management and upkeep of school buildings and grounds. Undertake general cleaning of some parts of the building and site e.g. vacuuming of staffroom, offices, cleaning toilets, emptying bins etc • Ensure site free from litter, sweep leaves, grit site when required, empty bins in order to ensure tidy and welcoming environment • Undertake general repairs and maintenance e.g. change light bulbs, clock batteries etc • Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials and supplies, reordering where necessary. • Provide support for cleaning services ensuring that necessary work is carried out, they know and adhere to health and safety procedures.

You will have:  Secure basic literacy and numeracy skills
 Relevant experience  The ability to work effectively as part of a team and be able to use your own initiative  Good DIY skil

Information about the school

We are a well resourced Junior School situated close to the centre of Sittingbourne. The school is housed in well maintained buildings with attractive grounds including a large natural area and sports field. There are eight classes, two in each of the four year groups and each class is equipped with interactive technology. The school is on the same site as South Avenue Infant School and there is close liaison between both schools.
