Are you passionate about working with young people? Are you looking for a rewarding role in education where no two days are the same? We are seeking enthusiastic, adaptable and committed individuals to join our team of Cover Supervisors.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced cover supervisors, or individuals with experience of working with young people who are looking to develop their skills in a supportive secondary school environment.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring continuity of learning during teacher absence. You will supervise classes across a range of subjects, deliver pre-planned lessons, maintain a positive learning environment and support students in achieving their best.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoys working with young people and has high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
  • Is confident leading classes of students across a range of subjects.
  • Is flexible, reliable and able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Can build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Remains calm, organised and professional in a busy school environment.

Whether you are taking your first steps into education or bringing previous classroom experience, we would love to hear from you.

We seek to develop our staff through a professional growth model and treat everyone as an individual; we value personal strengths and qualities.  Our school is set in a 55 acre site midway between London and the Channel Ports.  You will enjoy a unique working environment in the heart of the Weald of Kent including discounts and offers with Kent Rewards and enhanced pension contributions.   There is also a nursery based on the school site which offers discounts to Homewood Staff.

Closing date: 31st August 2026, however early applications are encouraged as we review applications as we receive them.

Information about the school

Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre is a mixed 11 – 18 wide ability school with Academy status with 2000 students including 350 in the Sixth Form. We are part of Tenterden Schools’ Trust working in collaboration with local primary schools and nurseries serving the Wealden town of Tenterden and the surrounding villages. The school is situated on the edge of Tenterden and enjoys a large semi-rural site overlooking open countryside. Home Farm Nursery is based in the grounds of Homewood School.

Homewood has excellent facilities for all its students and our specialisms in Performing Arts, Applied Learning and the Rural Dimension underpin our approaches to learning which are designed to raise achievement across the whole student body. We aim to maintain and develop the cultural aspirations of the school community in line with our priorities of “belonging” and “respect” and offer a broad range of curriculum opportunities in all subject areas. This also extends into the local community through partnerships across primary, secondary and higher education sectors as well as non-educational community partners.

Homewood provides a secure and caring learning environment in which all students can flourish and succeed. It is a school renowned for its support for students’ wellbeing. Heads of Community provide academic and pastoral leadership for the students in their Community, supported by dedicated form tutors, a Family Liaison Officer and Assistant Head of Community. A range of other staff including counsellors and a qualified nurse help and support the students through their time at Homewood. Consideration and respect for each other is central to our work and we are justly proud of our students’ achievements.

I hope you will be inspired to submit an application to join us. If you are successful, you can be assured of a very warm welcome and a real opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the young people of this part of Kent.
