Join Our Senior

Make a lasting difference to the lives of young people.

Liberty Group comprises three organisations dedicated to improving the lives of society's most vulnerable individuals. Through Liberty College, Liberty Training, Ohana Homes, and Liberty for All CIC, we provide high-quality education, training, and residential support that empowers young people to achieve their full potential and make a positive contribution to society.

As our specialist Post-16 College continues to grow, alongside the exciting development of Liberty High, we are seeking an exceptional Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our Senior Leadership Team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced safeguarding professional who is passionate about protecting children and vulnerable adults while helping shape the future of a thriving, learner-centred organisation.

About the Role

As the Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will provide strategic leadership for safeguarding and child and adult protection across the College. You will ensure safeguarding concerns are recognised, recorded, and acted upon promptly, whilst ensuring the College consistently meets its statutory responsibilities and promotes the highest standards of safeguarding practice.

Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will foster a strong safeguarding culture where learners feel safe, valued, and supported. You will lead on safeguarding strategy, oversee compliance, provide expert advice to colleagues, and ensure safeguarding practices are embedded throughout the organisation.

You will work closely with learners, families, staff, governors, and external agencies, taking part in strategy discussions, multi-agency meetings, and safeguarding assessments. You will also line manage our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs), ensuring they are supported, developed, and delivering safeguarding responsibilities to the highest standard.

A key aspect of the role is strengthening partnerships between the College and families, helping remove barriers to learning, improving attendance and engagement, and ensuring learners receive the right support at the right time. Through early intervention and collaborative working, you will help improve learner outcomes and promote positive wellbeing.

You will work alongside the Senior Leadership Team, Wellbeing Team, Admissions & Attendance Lead, and our external Safeguarding Adviser to continuously develop and strengthen safeguarding across the organisation.

Why Join Liberty?

At Liberty, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are a supportive, ambitious and values-driven organisation where every member of staff is committed to helping young people thrive.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, lead safeguarding across an expanding organisation, and make a genuine difference to the lives of young people and their families.
