Finance Officer – Nexus School, Tonbridge

Salary: Kent Scheme D/E (depending on experience)
Hours: 37 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 8:00am–4:00pm, Friday 8:00am–3:30pm
Contract: Term Time + 10 days (39 weeks + 10 days)
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner by agreement)

Join Our Growing Team

Nexus School is seeking an organised, proactive and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our friendly and supportive team.

Working closely with the Strategic Business Leader, you will play a key role in the efficient operation of the school's finances, ensuring accurate financial administration that supports the education and wellbeing of our pupils.

Main Responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders, invoices, banking and accounting transactions.
  • Manage payments for educational visits and activities.
  • Support payroll administration and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Process supplier payments and reconcile school credit card expenditure.
  • Raise invoices and receipt income for lettings.
  • Assist with month-end reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Monitor contracts and procurement activity.
  • Maintain records for grants, donations and bursary payments.
  • Manage the finance inbox and respond to queries.
  • Support improvements to financial systems and processes.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has finance and administrative experience.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Can manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Communicates professionally and works well as part of a team.
  • Handles confidential information with integrity and discretion.

An AAT qualification (or equivalent experience) is essential. Experience of school finance systems would be an advantage but is not essential.
