DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN (Product Design)

 

20 hours per week (4 hours per day), term time plus one week (39 weeks per year)

 

Kent Scheme C (depending on experience): Pro rata salary from £25,252 p.a.

This position would suit an existing DT or similar school-based technician, or someone with a comparable role in a different sector.  The post exists to provide a comprehensive technical service to teaching staff in the department and to assist when needed in practical lessons. The latter includes facilitating safe practical sessions in a workshop environment, overseeing the use of machinery and tools, and helping teachers and students with the general aim of improving the learning experience. The post holder will have a role in respect of general health & safety in the department, maintenance of equipment, stock control and ordering. The actual hours worked are flexible and can be discussed at interview. Good organisation and communication skills are essential.
