Greatstone Primary School is seeking an ambitious, inspirational and highly motivated Assistant Headteacher to join our dedicated leadership team and play a key role in shaping the next stage of our school improvement journey.

About the Role

The Assistant Headteacher will support the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team in providing strategic and operational leadership that secures high-quality education, outstanding teaching and positive outcomes for all pupils.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced middle leader or aspiring senior leader to develop their leadership skills while maintaining a strong connection to classroom practice.

The role will be structured as:

• 3 days per week dedicated to leadership responsibilities
• 2 days per week providing class-based PPA cover across the school

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will:

• Lead on key whole-school priorities, including curriculum development, teaching and learning, assessment or inclusion, depending on school need.
• Drive improvements in teaching, learning and pupil outcomes through coaching, monitoring and professional development.
• Support the development and implementation of the School Development Plan.
• Lead curriculum design, implementation and evaluation to ensure excellence for all learners.
• Monitor standards through lesson observations, learning walks, book scrutiny and pupil voice activities.
• Support the use of assessment and data to inform school improvement.
• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)and promote a strong safeguarding culture.
• Line manage allocated staff and contribute to appraisal, induction and professional development processes.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families, staff and the wider community.
• Deputise for the Headteacher when required and assume full responsibility for the leadership and management of the school in the Headteacher's absence.

• Is an outstanding primary practitioner with a proven track record of improving outcomes for pupils.
• Has successful experience of curriculum leadership and school improvement.
• Has a strong understanding of effective teaching, learning and assessment.
• Can inspire, motivate and develop colleagues through coaching and support.
• Demonstrates excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Is committed to inclusion and achieving the best possible outcomes for all children, including disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND.
• Has a thorough understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and child protection procedures.
• Is passionate about promoting a positive culture of high expectations, collaboration and continuous improvement.
