The Orchard School is seeking to appoint a calm, compassionate and adaptable Therapeutic Tutor and Trauma Counsellor to join our growing therapeutic team. 

This is a unique dual-purpose role combining personalised educational support with trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic intervention. 

The successful candidate will deliver core subject learning to pupils both within school and off-site provision, helping children and young people re-engage with learning, rebuild confidence and experience success. 

Alongside tutoring, the role will involve providing therapeutic and trauma-informed counselling support within school, helping pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive relationships. 

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building meaningful relationships and who understands that behaviour is communication. 

Temp - 12 months

3 days per week 9.30am-2.30pm

2 days per week 8.30-3.30pm (inc.30mins unpaid break) 

Total=28 hours per week/38 weeks plus 5 training days

Salary KSH FTE £44194 - Pro-rata £29411.00 + SEN allowance £1541.40 - Pro-rata £1328

Total = £30739

We are looking for someone who: 

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs 
  • Can build strong, trusting and professional relationships 
  • Is calm, relational and emotionally resilient 
  • Can adapt learning creatively to meet individual pupil needs 
  • Has experience in counselling, therapeutic support or trauma-informed practice 
  • Is able to work flexibly across school and community settings 
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and is confident travelling to off-site locations 
  • Shares our commitment to relational and therapeutic practice
