Join Team Turner – Apply to be our Free School’s Founding Assistant Principals

Do you believe that all students deserve access to the best that has been thought and known? That all can succeed in education given the right pedagogy, curriculum and clear parameters for conduct? Then join us in bringing aspects of some of the most successful Free Schools and Academies to an area of coastal disadvantage, joining our mission sea-change. The Turner Free School is looking for exceptional candidates to establish a grammar-style school which delivers Success without Selection for all students. The Turner Free School will be an 11-18 provision, opening with 120 Year 7 pupils in September 2018, rising to 180 per year thereafter. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of our ambitious plans to improve education and opportunity for every child in Folkestone.

We are looking for Assistant Principals to lead in the following areas:

  • Achievement – securing ambitious and inclusive excellence for all students in terms of access to learning, academic success and behaviour for learning if they face barriers. Ideal candidates will recognise the foundational role of reading in achievement, and will be passionate about enabling everyone to achieve a chronological or chronological + reading age by the end of Year 7.
  • Academia – ensuring the delivery of exceptional teaching and assessment across the school, taking a active role in whole staff CPD, and bringing effective practices that reduce workload but improve outcomes. Ideal candidates will be familiar with the work of Willingham et al.
  • Aspiration – leading on the school’s culture, including conduct, so that aspiration and community are the double helix of its DNA.

If you have the vision and drive to be part of our ambitious and dynamic team, get in touch.
