Horsmonden Primary Academy has an exceptional opportunity for a committed, enthusiastic and passionate Teaching Assistant (EYFS) to join from September 2024. Becoming a member of the Horsmonden Primary team will enable you to work with like-minded colleagues who share your goals and ambitions. You will be part of a team that provides outstanding educational opportunities for all of our pupils through creative, carefully sequenced and highly effective lines of inquiry where all learners are at the very core of driving our curriculum.

As a Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the class teacher to improve the provision for all children. You will be based in EYFS and experience of working with children in this age range is essential. There may be times when you're needed to cover the class in the teacher's absence so experience of this is advantageous.

The successful candidate will need to have relevant experience and/or qualifications in working with children. Being able to communicate effectively with children and adults is essential, together with a friendly and approachable manner. Our newly appointed TA will be able to work using their own initiative and can demonstrate effective behaviour management skills. In return, they will join a supportive environment with plenty of development opportunities within the academy and across the wider Trust.

The successful candidate will get to work with the wonderful children of Horsmonden and help them reach their full potential.

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Knowledge and experience of working within EYFS
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Creativity and passion for learning
  • A thirst for knowledge, high expectations and the ability to inspire and motivate children.
  • Dedication to the job and the skills to prioritise the needs of the children in their care.
  • Resilience and the ability to be solution-focused

The role offers an actual salary of £17,160 per annum (£22,714 full time equivalent) per annum based on 32.5 hours per week, Term Time + 1 week of inset (5 days per week, 8.30-15.30). The role will be centred around supporting children’s learning and development in all aspects of school life, not only in class but during social times too.

We strongly recommend that you come to visit our setting so that you can see in action what an inspiring and purposeful environment it is, for both pupils and adults.

Information about the school

Here at Horsmonden Primary Academy, our aim is to encourage lifelong learning and develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring individuals that understand the world around them while demonstrating respect. It is important to us all that Horsmonden children are prepared for life outside Horsmonden and that journey starts the minute they walk through our doors.

As a member of staff at Horsmonden you will benefit from working with a dedicated, experienced and knowledgeable team. We are all proud to work here and firmly believe in every child achieving their best through providing inspiring, motivating and exciting learning opportunities.

Our curriculum is framed by the Primary Years Programme, from the International Baccalaureate and we strongly believe in the 10 learner profile attributes. They represent the capacities and responsibilities for intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth. Together, staff and children are: inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk takers, balanced and reflective.

The school was founded in 1853 and we have been at the heart of the community ever since. We are proud to have an active, supportive parent body and excellent links with the local community enabling us to work closely together, providing the best experiences for the children of Horsmonden.

We were awarded with a 'Good' rating by Ofsted in their 2016 inspection - 'The effective headteacher has united the staff team. Everyone at Horsmonden now works towards the same set of shared values in order to achieve the very best for pupils.'

Vision and values: At Horsmonden we have developed a friendly, caring and thoughtful atmosphere that has evolved through the use of the words “Happiness, Kindness, Success”.
