Are you looking for a post where you can truly make a difference to children with Special Educational Needs? Where children make phenomenal progress in their learning and staff members have a real sense of achievement and pride in the work they do?

Martello Primary is looking to recruit a passionate, inspiring and dedicated teacher to help us ensure that our knowledge-led curriculum is effectively delivered to our SEND pupils in our Specialist Resource Provision (SRP). We are looking to recruit an individual who would relish the opportunity to organise, run and manage the pupils who access our SRP, which specialises in ASD. Currently, a small number of our pupils have access to the SRP and they would love to find a teacher who can meet their needs and help them achieve their targets, both academically and the targets stated on their EHCPs. We are also looking for someone with the ambition to grow the provision so that we can support more children with additional needs.

As a faculty, we are committed to ensuring that our schools are places where all children thrive and knowledge matters and we have an exciting opportunity for passionate teachers to join our team.

We welcome applications from great teachers who are highly motivated and dedicated, with a passion for powerful education. We are looking for someone who understands and has a background of working with children with a range of SEND needs.

Come and join us to be a part of our journey.

The ideal candidate will…

  • Love teaching and share our ethos of inclusion;
  • Have experience working with SEND children;
  • Strive for academic excellence;
  • Ensure our pupils feel valued and safe;
  • Enjoy working as part of a team;
  • Be committed to transforming life chances of the pupils we serve;
  • Inspire our pupils and our colleagues;
  • Believe that every child can learn and achieve;
  • Possess the drive and determination to assist pupils in breaking down barriers inside and outside of education.

In return, Martello Primary can offer…

  • Pupils who want to learn;
  • Opportunities and support for development (this includes coaching and mentoring and CPD unlike any other school!);
  • Real work-life balance with a sensible approach to marking and reporting to parents;
  • A Trust which supports ongoing professional development and takes faculty welfare seriously;
  • A great team who are supportive of each other including a partner teacher to share the workload.

We reserve the right to close the advert early if a suitable candidate is found.

Information about the school

Martello Primary is a one-form entry school situated in the East Cliff area of Folkestone. It opened to all year groups almost seven years ago and within this time has established strong provision across the school. It was rated by Ofsted in March 2022 as Good in all areas. The school additionally has a Specialist Resource Provision specifically supporting 15 children with a diagnosis of autism.

Being a small primary school means that we are able to maintain a ‘family’ feel to the school and really nurture our children’s needs. Many children who come to our school are disadvantaged and face challenges which could present barriers to their learning and achievement without the exceptional care of the committed staff team.

Links with the local community have brought many enrichment opportunities to pupils: the Locavore Community Garden hosts weekly outdoor learning lessons for pupils across the school and there are strong partnerships with local sporting and creative organisations.

Collaboration is strong between Martello and the two other excellent primaries in the Turner Trust; Morehall Primary and Folkestone Primary, both of which are geographically close by. Subject Networks are well-established, and a culture of sharing planning and expertise has been established. Staff report that they are happy and enjoy working at Martello.

Martello Primary is an exciting place to work, and somewhere you know you can make a positive difference to the lives of young people. We warmly encourage you to visit our school. Please contact Louise Lythgoe, Executive Headteacher, to make an appointment, via the school office on 01303 847540.
