Loose Primary is seeking a dedicated, empathetic and compassionate Pastoral Practitioner to join our team.  In this role, you will work alongside our other Pastoral Practitioner and play a crucial role in creating a supporting and nurturing environment where all children can thrive.  This is a fixed term post, for 30 hours per week until August 2025, although there may be other opportunities following this.

As a Pastoral Practitioner you will be responsible for overseeing the wellbeing and pastoral care of our pupils.  You will work closely with staff, students, parents and external agencies to create a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of all students.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting children, excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing among children.
  2. Provide support and guidance to children facing personal, social or emotional challenges.
  3. Collaborate with teachers, parents and external agencies to identify and address individual needs of the child.
  4. Organise and facilitate pastoral support programs and interventions.
  5. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral support initiatives.
  6. Provide guidance and support to staff on issues related to student wellbeing and behaviour management.
  7. Maintain accurate records of pastoral support interventions and outcomes.
  8. Stay informed about current research, policies and best practices related to pastoral care in schools.
  9. Act as a point of contact for children, parents and staff regarding pastoral concerns.
  10. Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture.

Desirable qualifications and skills:

  • Previous experience working in a pastoral care role in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and behaviour management techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, legislation and safeguarding procedures.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in education.

The school is fully committed to the safeguarding of children, therefore all staff are subject to an enhanced DBS check by the Disclosure and Barring Service along with other relevant employement checks.
